Sri Ramkrishna Ashram, Nimpith is situated at Village - Nimpith, P.O.- Nimpith Ashram, Dist.- South 24-Parganas, the most remote and inaccessible areas of the Sundarbans. It is the gateway to the Sundarban Forest. It has started its philanthropic and humanitarian activities in the year 1960-61 through its social, scientific, research, educational, health and other public institutions. Since inception various developmental activities have been initiated to translate into action the great ideals and ideologies as propounded by Sri Sri Ramakrishna Dev, Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda.
With a burning and pioneering zeal, a penniless monk of the Ramakrishna Order started its journey from Zero, which has now became a big institution with numerous developmental activities of permanent stature. Such a quick, rapid and unique progress during this period has been possible only because of the unbounded grace and profound blessings of the Lord Sri Ramakrishna Dev and of the pioneering zeal, zest and active cooperation and support of numerous friends, well-wishers, workers and unstinted help, cooperation and aid from the Central and the State Governments and munificence and magnanimity of the generous donors and philanthropic organizations all over the Country and abroad. The Ashram by its unending efforts, persistence and perseverance has largely succeeded in turning Nimpith, a hitherto listless and indolent village and marshy thicket, into a humming hub of hectic life and activities.
Since 1960. Started by Swami Buddhanandaji
“Penniless, but with a buring and pioneering zeal I plunged myself headlong into the solemn and supreme task of bettering the lot of the down-trodden people with the aid and co-operation of a devoted and selfless band of workers.”
